Louisville football is trending for a high priority 2021 wide receiver.

The Louisville football coaching staff has done an excellent job of prioritizing what the program needs in the 2021 class. The Cardinals certainly needed to continue building depth in the trenches and all across the defense, and, so far, they have done exactly that.

Now the focus for Louisville football turns more towards shoring up commits to help in the future at the skill positions.

This week, we saw Louisville target Jordyn Williams pledge to Indiana and told you why that matters for the Cards.

However, one reason why Williams may have gone ahead and locked down a spot in Bloomington is because of the emergence of another slot receiver who the coaching staff has been in close contact with.

Ahmari Huggins-Bruce has been a top priority for the Cardinals coaching staff since turning their full attention to this 2021 recruiting class.

Huggins-Bruce was considered a heavy Virginia Tech lean since the beginning of April. But recently, the Hokies staff has turned its attention away a bit from AHB’s recruitment, securing two wide receivers already in this class. Most recently, the Hokies landed a top receiver at Bruce’s position on May 15th.

Of late, the Cardinals have seen insiders put in four forecasts for Huggins-Bruce on Rivals, and then three insiders flipped their picks from Virginia Tech to Louisville on 247Sports at 2:40, 2:55, and 3:27 on May 17th.

Apparently, those in the know are receiving intel either from sources or Huggins-Bruce himself, and all signs seem to be pointing towards him heading to Louisville.

What Huggins-Bruce would mean for Louisville football

The 6’1,” 170-pound multi-faceted receiver is rated as the second-best player in the state of South Carolina according to Rivals.com, and the No. 470 player nationally according to 247Sports.

After watching some of his tape, Huggins-Bruce will become one of your favorite players in the 2021 class. He has electric speed and is adept at creating separation similarly to current Louisville football receiver Tutu Atwell. What makes Huggins-Bruce such a highly sought-after prospect, however, is his excellent footwork and route-running skills. He has breakaway speed, but he’s not afraid to finish a play through contact as well.

Huggins-Bruce projects as a slot receiver, but he can really line up anywhere. Playing for his highschool in Dillon, SC, he lines up in the slot, out wide, and is involved in a lot of sweep plays where he is dangerous as a player in motion.

If Huggins-Bruce were to pledge to the Cards, he is the perfect fit in Scott Satterfield’s system, and everything certainly seems to be trending that way.

Huggins-Bruce would be one of the offensive centerpieces in a class that is otherwise not as skill position oriented.
