Louisville football: Key reserves

As we mentioned, Louisville football is finally able to bring serious depth to the table on the line, which is crucial to sustained success in Power Five football. Though, right now, these players probably aren’t going to compete seriously for a starting spot, that doesn’t mean that they don’t have the talent to see the field this coming season. There may simply be pieces in front of them that don’t allow them to see the field yet. As we saw, Louisville will lose a lot to graduation after 2020, and these guys are going to be expected to take a serious step forward by the fall of 2021.

OG- Kobe Baynes (Fr.)

Luke Kandra may be the true freshman that will impress right away in this class, but like Tim Lawson, Kobe Baynes was able to get onto campus early for spring practice, which will serve beneficial for the Cardinals.

The only issue for Baynes right now is that he is going to be another interior guy, and there’s a bit of a log jam in front of him on the road to playing time. However, if we look up in two years and see Baynes as a key cog in the offensive line, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised.

OG- Austin Collins (Fr.)

Yet another guard filling out this roster, the staff is very high on Collins. However, the true freshman has not made it campus yet, and the Cardinals are stacked at the guard spots right now.

OT/ OG- Joshua Black (R. Fr)

One of the first offensive linemen to commit to the new staff, there is no reason that Josh Black can’t see the field at some point this season. He played in four games as a redshirt, and he will get more opportunities this year because of his versatility.
