Louisville basketball headed in the right direction.

As my friend Dalton Pence recently pointed out, it had been 213 days since Louisville basketball received a commitment from a player in the 2021 class. The Cards were on the board earlier than most programs when Bryce Hopkins announced his intent to play for Chris Mack, and so when Bobby Pettiford Jr. pledged to Louisville it shot them up to number six in the team rankings.

Now with as many as four more spots to fill and momentum on their side, the Louisville basketball staff are hoping to take recruiting the class of 2021 to the next level. Corey Evans joined the Big Red Louie Podcast this week to discuss recruiting for the program and praised the UofL staff for their hard work during the pandemic/recruiting dead period. He said:

“They’ve laid the foundations now with the proper players that be… they are definitely involved with the right players and now a matter of who it’s going to be.”

Evans believed that Mack would once again finish with a top 15 recruiting class nationally, much like he did back in 2019, which would be a huge accomplishment considering the struggles we saw last season and the impending NCAA investigation’s impact on the postseason future.

There a lot of questions about recruiting and things that will need to happen in order for Louisville to finish at the level that people like Corey think they can. But for now, the biggest question will be, who’s next?

Let’s take a look at three players who I believe could be in line to be the next commitment for the Louisville basketball program in 2021.
