Louisville basketball: 2021 recruiting big board 2.0
Big man
Two big men from Richmond, Virginia lead the way on this big man big board.
Already committed: Bryce Hopkins
Hopkins has been committed to the Cardinals for nearly eight months now, and the anchor in this class should bring a completely different dynamic to the Louisville program. Think Chane Behanan with a jumper.
Efton Reid
6’11 225-pounds- Richmond, VA
Though Louisville has the commitment from Hopkins, the Cardinals have to find a center who can be an instant-impact guy down low beginning in 2021.
Efton Reid could be that player.
As we stated on the Big Board 1.0, Reid will be a hotly contested recruit, but his commitment may ultimately come down to Louisville vs. Virginia.
Could Reid be Louisville’s best big man recruit since Samardo Samuels? That’s a tough ask, but the need is there and he could earn some immediate playing time.
Trey Kaufman
6’9 210-pounds- Sellersburg, IN
We have spoken previously about local recruit Trey Kaufman, who is gifted academically and athletically.
The Cards still have a punchers chance with the ever-growing power forward, but as of right now, Mack and co. have to beat out Indiana and Purdue.
Things have been quiet on the recruiting front for Kaufman, and he may be waiting out for an offer from other blue blood schools.
Roosevelt Wheeler
6’10 220-pounds- Richmond, VA
I am confident in saying that Roosevelt Wheeler is the dopest name in this recruiting class, and I am also equally confident that Louisville basketball will make the shortlist for the big man.
Wheeler visited Louisville for its February game against Virginia, and he came away extremely impressed.
"“The atmosphere was amazing,” Wheeler told Jody Demling of 247Sports. “It was such a big crowd and it was such a loud crowd. “I could definitely see myself playing in an environment like that down the road.” Wheeler said after his talks with Mack and assistant Mike Pegues, who has been recruiting him for “a long time,” he believes that Louisville is a program that would fit his game."
He has visited Louisville and NC State so far, and they appear to be the two favorites to land his services at the moment.
Wheeler would be able to help supplement what the Cardinals are losing in 2021 when Malik Williams graduates.
