Louisville football’s linebacker core is strong.

Over the last month, we have detailed Louisville football’s 2020 roster and broken down what the Cardinals depth chart could look like if the season started today.

In its second year under head coach Scott Satterfield, the Cardinals are trying to continue riding the momentum from a shockingly good turnaround season that culminated in a bowl win over Mississippi State in December.

The Cardinals notched wins over two quasi-top 25 teams and overcame serious injury and depth issues to finish a more-than-respectable 8-5 record.

In case you haven’t gotten the chance, here are the rest of our depth chart previews so far:

Defensive Line

Now, we get to break down perhaps the deepest and most exciting position on the 2020 roster: the Louisville football linebacking core.

This position room is deep, it’s versatile, it’s experienced, and after an adjustment period last season, the linebackers are primed for a massive season.

The Cardinals return every starter from a 2019 linebacking core that had three of last season’s top four leading tacklers.

Now, Louisville adds even more depth in 2020 with the return of a key piece that missed last season with an injury, as well as two redshirt freshmen and one instant-impact JUCO transfer.

Let’s take a look at where we think the Louisville football linebacker depth chart would stand if the season started today.
