Analysis and Outlook

The Cardinals currently have six cornerbacks on the roster, with Marlon Character using his last year of eligibility. Along with Walker, Louisville has a commitment from Miami, FL standout Rance Conner. Walker will be given opportunities to contribute early on, and his film suggests that very well may be the case.

Last season, he recorded two interceptions and 35 tackles as a junior. What Walker lacks in speed, he makes up for with good size; standing at 6-foot-2, he’s exceptional in winning or disrupting 50/50 balls. He possesses the ability to see the play as it develops, and rarely ever gets caught out of position. Walker has good ball instincts, solid footwork, good technique, and active hands. Perhaps the most impressive thing about him is the fact that he’s able to cover effectively while keeping his eyes on the opposing quarterbacks.

He projects as a cornerback at the next level but is versatile enough to play all over the defensive backfield. With his size and strength, Walker could be used at safety, but may be needed more at the other position.

On a different note, he possesses all of the physical qualities and technique to make it to the NFL, but will have to show that he can guard top college wide receivers first. Both he and Conner will possibly see the field early, but regardless, the future for the Louisville defense is bright.
