Shedeur Sanders – QB-PRO

6’2, 200-pounds – Cedar Hill, TX

National ranking: 220

Positional ranking: 14

The combination of name brand recognition, talent, elite-level winning, and potential are what make four-star quarterback Shedeur Sanders THE guy at the top of the proverbial big board for Scott Satterfield and the Louisville football program.

How could he not be? As Alex Stengel pointed out in his article over the weekend highlighting the potential commitment that could soon be on the horizon from Sanders, the talent and name recognition alone would give Satterfield his quarterback to be the face of the program much like Charlie Strong landed in Teddy Bridgewater in 2011 and Bobby Petrino nabbed Lamar Jackson in 2015.

If the highlights don’t convince you or if you don’t believe that the back-to-back state titles at the highest level in Texas were enough, or maybe even the fact that he’s the son of one of the most famous NFL players of all time that has given him access to insane amounts of football knowledge and training than maybe the offer sheet of Sanders will sell you (I doubt it takes much selling. to begin with).

Louisville finds themselves in the thick of a recruiting battle that includes the elite of the elite, including Alabama, LSU, Florida, Florida State, Oregon, and Michigan. Players already committed to the Cards have been recruiting Sanders hard hoping to add them to a special class and that combined with the job the staff has done shows why big-time recruiting experts are predicting the quarterback to end up in Louisville.

From the first day he stepped on campus, Sanders would be able to step onto the field and take over for current quarterback, Micale Cunningham, whenever he decides to part for the NFL or exhausts all eligibility. At  6’2, 200-pounds, Sanders has good size that he’s able to combine with a rocket arm, incredible football IQ, legs to make plays out of the pocket, incredible character, and most importantly, the desire to win.

This class is already on track to be the best in program history, adding Sanders at quarterback would give Satterfield a bonafide blue-chip prospect as the cherry on top.
