Louisville basketball has landed the top JUCO player again.

Scott Satterfield and the Louisville football program have held the attention of Cardinal fans all summer long with their impressive run on recruiting landing 17 recruits in a matter of a few months. After watching from afar, Louisville basketball head coach Chris Mack has decided to go on a little streak of his own.

A few weeks back we saw the Cards land a much-needed basketball commitment in the class of 2021 after going to 213 days without landing a new player. That drought ended with Bobby Pettiford Jr., a speedy and athletic guard who was one of the biggest risers of the summer

Yesterday, Louisville landed a commitment from 7’0 big man Gabe Wiznitzer out of Hargrave Academy who will reclassify from the class of 2021 to 2020 and enroll right away. While he will redshirt for the upcoming season, Wiznitzer projects to be a four-year player and long-term starter at a position that’s extremely important to the four-in-one-out system ran on offense.

The momentum kept rolling on Wednesday when Louisville picked up a commitment from guard, Elbert “El” Ellis, marking the second year in a row of the Cards landing arguably the top JUCO player.

The Tallahassee Community College guard has been one of the top players on the board for Louisville for quite some time now, and even with the commitment of Pettiford Jr., a 6’1 point guard, the pursuit of Ellis never wavered.

While it looked like Louisville may be on the outside looking in, the coaching staff did an incredible job of closing and landing a commitment that should give them one of the most dynamic backcourts in the ACC.

Now with Ellis in the fold, the Cards have three players committed in the class of 2021 and rank inside the top five nationally. There’s a lot to like about the commitment so let’s take a deeper dive into what Louisville will be getting with Ellis.
