Duce Chestnut – CB

5’11, 180-pounds – Camden, NJ

National ranking: 326

Position ranking: 24

A player that the Louisville football staff has been in on for a while now is four star Duce Chestnut.

The 5’10,” 180-pound corner holds offers from Michigan, Maryland, Miami, Baylor, NC State, and West Virginia.

Here’s what 247Sports analyst Brian Dohn had to say about Chestnut:

"Has frame to play corner or safety. Boundary corner is ideal spot. Instinctual and smart on field. Athletic and changes direction well. Tracks ball and is aggressive in coverage. Good in run support. Has body control. Strong tackler with technique. Plays physical and re-routes receivers with strong jam. Comfortable in press and off-man coverage. Top end speed a question to excel against elite competition. Has to work on bending more at knees in backpedal. Transition from backpedal to driving on ball needs work. Personal-best 6.74 in 55 meters. Must continue to develop hip looseness. Multi-year starter at Power 5 school. NFL free agent."

Louisville is going to be in search of adding depth when they lose Andrew Johnson and Chandler Jones and Chestnut is a guy who can come in an help alleviate any growing pains right away.

Part of the growth on Louisville’s defense over the next couple years is going to involve building depth with lockdown corners who can keep quarterbacks honest and create extra possessions.

That’s what Chestnut brings, and the New Jersey product feels like a guy who will end up a Cardinal when it’s all said and done.
