Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell get past issues

It’s an odd dynamic between Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell heading into this postseason.

After Gobert took the coronavirus less than serious way back in March, both of the Jazz All-Stars were the only two players on the team to get the virus.

Mitchell did not take too kindly to Gobert’s laissez-faire attitude that ultimately caused the entire NBA season to come grinding to a halt.

In time, someone would have contracted the virus, and the NBA was far too late to take any sort of drastic measures to prevent the spread at that point short of shutting games down completely. So, they did, and the world has seemingly stopped turning since.

Over that time, however, a lot has been able to transpire. Mitchell was in the right to be upset, but at the end of the day, the two will have had over four months apart to cool down and gear up mentally and physically for a playoff run.

At the end of the day, the two players don’t have to like each other. Plenty of NBA duos of the past have not gotten along, but put their differences to the side for the greater good of the team.

After all, it is Gobert and Mitchell’s jobs, and both have a lot riding on the success of this postseason with contract negotiations on the horizon next season.

They should be mature enough to put things in the past and move forward effectively.
