Donovan Mitchell has a 50-point game

I mean, why not, right?

After two solid seasons, this year has been a bit of a plateau for Donovan Mitchell.

With that being said, Mitchell has a lot going his way if you are a fan that wants to see him catch lightning in a bottle once again.

We detailed last month how Mitchell has one of the highest usage rates in the NBA, especially late in games, and especially in the playoffs.

The Jazz want the ball in Mitchell’s hands, and for good reason. He is one of the best iso scorers in the league and an improving shooter.

Now, that is only amplified with the absence of Bogdanovic and the Jazz’s increasing need for him to step up once again.

Mitchell is well-rested and likely eager to prove himself after the first stretch of time in the league that his game or character have been called into question.

Mitchell feels primed for a massive breakout postseason that cements him atop the league. A huge playoff game is one of the last things missing to place him in that upper echelon in the NBA, and there’s no reason to think that this can’t be the year that it happens.
