Dez Fitzpatrick – Wide Receiver (RS. Sr)

Louisville football was very fortunate that things worked out in the manner they did when it comes to Dez Fitzpatrick deciding to come back another season. With his brother, Christian, coming in as a highly-touted recruit, Louisville winning eight games and getting things turned around, and front offices in the NFL still wanting to see more it led him to decide coming back to The Ville for one last hoorah was worth it.

Fitzpatrick needs the 2020 season more than anyone else because the last thing that is keeping him from being a NFL Draft selection is more production. In talking with Dez’s father, Greg Fitzpatrick, on several occasions the biggest takeaway was how the NFL front offices needed to see more in order to believe he was draftable.

After his breakout redshirt freshman season Fitzpatrick’s stats went down the following season as the Louisville program as we knew it crashed and burned. In 2019 we saw much more of the Fitzpatrick we got as a freshman, in part to the offense finding its grove with the long ball. He finished with 635 receiving yards along with six touchdowns, but in 2020 he needs to produce at an even higher level.

It’s more than possible as no one player was forgotten more in the offense than Fitzpatrick and as we saw throughout the season, as the group got more comfortable with the scheme and playing with each other the better things got. No season would be a blow to Fitzpatrick who is already playing in his fifth season as a collegiate athlete.
