Scott Satterfield is pretty excited about the Louisville football offense.

We are counting down the days until we can talk about actual Louisville football games instead of speculating whether there will be a season or not.

ESPN and ACC analyst Andrea Adelson felt the same way when she joined The Drive with Mark Ennis earlier this month.

Adelson had a ton to say about the future of the conference, what a season may look like in 2020, and what to expect from the conference’s potential top dogs Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Louisville.

Adelson got a chance to visit with Louisville football head coach Scott Satterfield back in February and said that the Cardinals’ head man was ecstatic about the potential of the offense in 2020.

"“(Satterfield) was just raving about what he felt Micale Cunningham and Tutu Atwell and those guys could do on offense this year. He was like ‘You have no idea we were only scratching the surface with them last year.’“He’s like ‘Micale is a completely different guy this year compared to the guy when we came in.’ (Cunningham is) confident, he believes in himself, he can make all of the throws. Now it’s only a matter of fine-tuning everything. They felt, in February, really good about the potential of where this offense could be. Once they get back into it, I’m sure that the confidence will be there even though they haven’t had all offseason together because they just felt like the strides had been made to get them to the point where they could be even more explosive on offense.”"

From Adelson’s perspective, the offense could take another big leap forward in 2020, but the big question for a lot of people is how the offensive line will fare in the absence of 2020 first-round pick Mekhi Becton and current New York Giant Tyler Haycraft.

Louisville football keeps things simple on offensive line

Adelson says that Cards fans have reason to be optimistic about the offensive line.

"I think that the scheme that they use on the offensive line makes it easy for them to be able to make improvements- It’s not that hard. Now, I don’t mean to say that it’s not that hard to play on the offensive line. I mean to say that they don’t ask them to learn 50,000 different formations. They are really really good at three or four things, and then they ask those guys to do those three or four things. So, because that’s the way they run the offensive line, you see the improvement week to week. From week one all the way to the end, that was a completely different offensive line- You wouldn’t know it was the same guys. So, I think the potential is there, I really do."

Louisville football fans have a ton of reasons to be positive about the future of the program, and it starts with the excitement the coaches and players have around the Cardinals offense.
