1. Ohio State

If you’re a Louisville football fan, if there’s one big-name team in the country that you’d want to see the Cards play, it has to be Ohio State.

In recent years, Louisville has faced Florida, Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia, and Auburn. They play Florida State and Clemson yearly, and rotate in Miami, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame.

Outside of Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, or USC, Louisville has covered its bases recently as far as facing traditional national powers.

The last top-tier team left to play is Ohio State. The Buckeyes are a college football power that only two or three other teams have the pedigree to compete with. They boast eight national titles, seven Heisman Trophy winners, and are second all-time in win percentage.

To me, there’s no team out there that would be a more exciting match-up with local flavor than Ohio State.

The Cardinals and the Buckeyes met twice before in 1991 and 1992, and Ohio State won 20-19 and 25-18.

OSU figures to once again be in the thick of the college football playoff race.

Columbus is a three hour drive from Louisville, which makes Ohio State closer than any ACC team. If there’s a time to make this match-up happen outside of the postseason, it’s now.
