3. Louisville will rank in the top 10 in total offense

Alan Thomas

So much of the buzz in the off-season has been about awards finalists on the offensive side of the ball. Last season, in Coach Scott Satterfield‘s inaugural season, the Cardinals found themselves ranked in the top 25 in the total offense category.

With a slew of seasoned talent coming back for Satterfield’s squad, many expect the offense to make a leap. But I believe that this particular unit could find themselves much higher than many expect.

Both Micale Cunningham and Javian Hawkins are getting more and more favorable odds in the Heisman Trophy race. Along with their teammate, slot receiver Tutu Atwell, who is considered by many to be the best slot receiver in the country.

If you mix in the rapid growth on the front line, even considering the loss of Mekhi Becton to the NFL, this offense is potentially lethal as a whole. Also, not to mention the younger components to this year’s team bring a source of firepower in a supporting role that great offensive teams depend on for depth and success.

By all accounts, Cunningham’s arm has grown more accurate, Atwell’s quickness has seen an uptick, and Hawkins has done some major work in the weight room to exceed his rushing stats last season.
