4. Louisville football stays ranked in the top 25 from start to finish

Alex Stengel

If birthdays were still a thing in 2020, mine would be in a few days. At this point, it still feels like a longshot but I cannot think of a better gift this year than watching my favorite college football team take the field this season.

Regardless, the show must go on, and for us at BRL that means pumping out predictions and content like college sports are full steam ahead. I was excited to throw in my Louisville football two cents, or predictions for that matter – writing them into existence with 100 percent confidence they can happen even if just ‘most’ of a season is played.

I miss being ranked. A lot. Seeing your team nearly reach the pinnacle of college football quickly followed by one of the worst falls from grace ever recorded is a humbling experience, to say the least. However, the terrible taste of 2-10 is nearly all but gone, as Louisville is coming off another solid 8-5 season with a bowl victory to boot.

Going into the 2020 season, there have been numerous preseason polls with the Cardinals cracking the top 25, some even going as far to place them in the mid-to-high teens. It won’t be easy, but there is a real possibility Louisville can remain in the top 25 throughout the season. Assuming the Cards take care of business the week prior and go into Clemson 1-0 ranked, if they can play Clemson close in Death Valley there is a chance they can still be in the top 25 going into game three. I predict Louisville will be at 6-1 going into their matchup with FSU, which would safely have them inside the rankings for challenging back half of scheduling.

That’s the thing with bold(ish) predictions – It won’t be easy, but it is possible.
