Trevor Reid – Offensive tackle

An under the radar player that could contend for a starting spot right away is JUCO offensive tackle transfer, Trevor Reid.

Reid was a highly-coveted player for the coaching staff in the last recruiting cycle, and he became one of three players to sign with the Cards from Georgia Military College.

GoCards.com broke down Reid’s impressive resume from his Junior College career:

  • Rated by 247Sports as the top offensive tackle and the No. 10 JUCO performer overall
  • Top-ranked JUCO offensive tackle and top-ranked JUCO player in the state of Georgia
  • Rated the No. 6 JUCO offensive tackle in the nation by JCGridiron.com
  • Named a first-team All-American
  • Played on an offense that averaged 37.6 points per game and 186.0 yards rushing
  • Team finished the year at 8-3.

Louisville is looking for a replacement at both tackle positions after the departures of Mekhi Becton and Tyler Haycraft.

At the right tackle, there will be a competition between Renato Brown, Cam DeGeorge, and Zach Williamson.

At left tackle, it appears that Adonis Boone, who made two starts in place of Becton last season, is in the driver’s seat to maintain his starting spot.

However, Reid figures to play right into the mix protecting Micale Cunningham’s blind spot.

When you lose one of the largest, most athletic tackles in school history to the NFL, it wouldn’t be too bad to replace him with a 6’6,” 320-pound guy who happens to be able to stuff a couple of Louisville’s male cheerleaders can’t even do.

Regardless of if he wins the job or not, I am interested in hearing what the coaching staff has to say about Reid entering the season.
