Huge news for Louisville football.

The No. 1 breakout player we heard about in Louisville football fall camp was Liberty transfer Kei’Trel (AKA Tre) Clark.

Clark was an under-the-radar last second snag for the coaching staff, and most knew little to nothing about him entering the summer.

That changed quickly when the lanky corner made his presence known in fall camp, leading coaches and former players to sing his praises after each practice session.

The one caveat, however, was that Clark needed to get approved to become immediately eligible after he transferred due to a myriad of issues on campus at Liberty.

Clark announced Wednesday night on Twitter that he can play right away for the Cards after the staff worked to jump through some hoops with the NCAA.

Here’s some of what the staff said about Clark last week:
“The bright spot out of that group right now is Kei’Trel Clark,” co-defensive coordinator Bryan Brown said on Thursday. “He’s had a couple of interceptions and he’s a quick corner that loves to compete, as well as the rest of those guys.”

Fellow cornerback Anthony Johnson echoed these sentiments, praising the efforts of the former 2-star recruit.

“Tre is doing a great job, he’s been making a lot of plays,” Johnson said. “He’s been out there making plays and looks good. . . . We have a very bright young group, and other older guys are loving up on them and teaching them the game with the playbook and acclimating them to the system of college football. But I really think we have a really special group.”

That group could become one of the most quickly improving units on the team if things continue to pan out in 2020.

Clark is a big-time asset for the Cards, and should find playing time from day one.
