Adonis Boone – 8 starts at left tackle

Jacob – Under

I love Adonis Boone at left tackle, let me start by saying that. Last season he played extremely well in place of Mekhi Becton against both North Carolina State and Mississippi State, thriving in pass protection.

I fully expect to see Boone out there as the day one starter for Louisville, but by seasons end I really believe that Trevor Reid will be the starting left tackle.

At 6’6, 320-pounds, Reid has the size to go with elite athleticism (the flip is just the tip of the icebeg) and has the pure talent needed to elevate the offensive line play and protect Micale Cunningham.

Boone is going to play a lot this year, and could even move into another spot, but I like Reid as the long-term blindside protector.

Presley – Under

Although I think Boone starts out as the left tackle for the Cardinals, I think he sees less and less snaps when Trevor Reid gets his feet wet.

Louisville faces some extremely talented defensive lines in Miami, Pitt, Florida State, and Notre Dame early on. While I think Boone is more than serviceable at that position, it may ultimately be Reid who’s number is called more frequently.

The uber-athletic, wide framed JUCO transfer feels like he is well-equipped to hold down that left side with guard Caleb Chandler, and could ultimately usurp Boone as the starter.

Boone could start more than I think, but I wouldn’t put my money on him starting eight or more.
