Where does Louisville football sit in the ACC standings?

The 2020 version of ACC football is going to look a little different than what Louisville football and college football fans, in general, have become accustomed to.

This season will feature 10 ACC games, a restructured conference with no divisions, and Notre Dame as the league’s 15th member.

So, what does that mean for the conference as a whole?

To start, things got a whole lot more interesting schedule-wise. Notre Dame is eligible to secure a conference title, but the Fighting Irish face a tough slate that features five of the league’s top six teams, according to the AP Poll.

Clemson, North Carolina, and Louisville do not face each other at all this season- a big-time win for three of the league’s most likely to take the conference crown this season.

And, with no divisions, that means the balance is restored within the league- At least for this year. The ACC Coastal division has featured seven champions in seven years. That parity will not be an issue this year when Coastal teams are set to face three extra games against ACC Atlantic teams.

With all of that said, the obvious next question is where does every team in the conference stand among their contemporaries?

That’s what we set out to do when we hashed out our 2020 preseason ACC power rankings.

These rankings are where the teams stand right now- They are not an indicator of where we think the teams will finish this season.

15. Boston College

Somebody has the be last, and if we are basing our power rankings off what we know right now, it’s difficult not to have Boston College in last place.

The Eagles let go of head coach Steve Adazzio, who led the program to moderate success under his tutelage. However, the real trouble lies in the loss of their All-American running back AJ Dillon and gifted quarterback Anthony Brown.

New head coach Jeff Hafley is highly regarded among the coaching ranks, and he should right the BC ship sooner rather than later. Still, the Eagles have to deal with the loss of their best player since the Matt Ryan era on offense.

Defensively, BC should be able to hold its own, but I’m not sure they have what it takes right now to overcome the question marks present on offense.
