No. 4: August 8th, 2020 – Double OT Thriller versus the Denver Nuggets:

In Utah’s sixth Bubble seeding game, the Jazz took on the Denver Nuggets in a back-and-forth game. Donovan Mitchell was carrying the Jazz on his back trying to edge out the Nuggets for a victory before this happened to send the game to overtime:

Donovan Mitchell gets the lay-up to fall with 0.9 seconds left to send the Jazz to overtime and then proceeds to drop eight points in the first overtime, including another clutch jumper to send the game to double-overtime.

The Jazz ultimately lost this game, but Mitchell finished with 35 points (12-33 FG, 5-16 3PT FG), 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Mitchell was the leading scorer in the game and it seemed like every time the Jazz needed to score, Donovan Mitchell answered the call and kept the Jazz fighting in the game. Mitchell scored 11 points in the fourth quarter of the game to send the game to overtime and continued to dominate the Nuggets’ defense in overtime.

This first match-up of Donovan Mitchell vs Jamal Murray in the NBA Bubble was not the scoring spectacles we saw from these two in the Playoffs, but it was still a great battle between them. Donovan Mitchell’s near triple-double performance almost gave the Jazz the win, but between Nikola Jokic’s 14 overtime points and Jamal Murray seven overtime points, the Nuggets ultimately won in double OT.

This was just the beginning of Donovan Mitchell’s spectacular play against the Denver Nuggets as he led the Jazz against the Nuggets in the first-round of the Western Conference Playoffs, leading us to his next top moment from the bubble.
