Donovan Mitchell’s top 5 moments from the NBA Bubble
By Brett Siegel
No. 1: Donovan Mitchell explodes for 57 Points in Game 1 vs Denver:
On August 17th, the Jazz began their series against the Denver Nuggets with not many expectations on Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz. Although they lost Game one in OT, Mitchell had one of the best games in NBA Playoff history. Donovan Mitchell scored 57 points (19-33 FG, 6-15 3PT FG, 13-13 FT) , 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
With his 57-point game, he set a new Jazz single playoff game scoring record, passing Karl Malone who scored 50 points in 2000, as well as posting the third highest scoring total in a Playoff Game in NBA history behind Michael Jordan (63 points, 1986) and Elgin Baylor (61 points, 1961). In addition to the accolades above, Mitchell also joined Michael Jordan as the only players in NBA history 23 years old or younger to score 57 or more points in a playoff game.

In the second half and overtime of this game, Mitchell scored 38 of his 57 points (66.7 percent of his total points). With the absence of Mike Conley, Utah’s starting point-guard, in this game due to the birth of his son, Mitchell took over as the point-guard for the Jazz in this game and had his best game of his young three-year career.
Donovan Mitchell is a force to be reckoned with entering his fourth year in the NBA and is set to be offered a max contract extension by the Utah Jazz worth $170M over 5 years this upcoming offseason, keeping Mitchell in a Jazz uniform for at least 6 more years! The future is extremely bright for Donovan Mitchell as he has become a face of the future for the NBA.
