Uh oh, Louisville basketball just landed another huge commitment.

Just like that, Louisville basketball has found its replacement for Bryce Hopkins.

While all eyes have been on the Louisville football program, Chris Mack and staff have been putting in work on the recruiting trail attempting to put back the pieces following the decision  to back off the long-standing commitment from Hopkins.

That work cultivated in a surprise commitment from four-star wing Mike James out of Orlando, FL, who 247 Sports ranks as a four star forward and the 85th best player the class of 2021. Most signs have pointing to James picking Buzz Williams and Texas A&M, but hard work from Mack and lead recruiter Mike Pegues ultimately landed the Cards a big time commit.

Though James ranks outside of the top 50, this is still a big time commitment from a wing who could have the skill set to develop into an elite “three and d” wing for Chris Mack and the Cards over the next few years.

After choosing Louisville over seven other finalists including Texas A&M, Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, USF, and Oklahoma State – James becomes the first true wing player and moves the Cards the No. 11 class in 2021.

We’ve been following James’ recruitment from quite some time and it’s my belief that there’s a lot to like about the future Card. With that being said, here are the three things I like most about Louisville’s newest commitment, Mike James.
