We predict the success of Louisville football’s incoming newcomers.

Louisville football is finally here.

It won’t feel real until toe meets leather for game one in Cardinal Stadium on Saturday night, but we are primed and ready for the season.

We have covered a ton of Louisville football’s stars and potential breakout players, but what about the newcomers for the Cards? Players that are true freshmen, redshirt freshmen, and transfers.

We put our heads together to give five predictions for Louisville football newcomers this season.

“Luke Kandra will make an impact from day one”

A lot of the attention will center around Louisville football’s skill position players, but what fans should pay attention to first and foremost is what happens in the trenches.

Louisville’s starters were pretty much baked in at the guard and center spots with veteran leaders, but what about behind the starters?

Enter multifaceted true freshman Luke Kandra.

“There was a nice turnaround for Louisville in Year 1 of the Scott Satterfield era, but Year 2 is when the real heavy lifting begins,” said Barton Simmons in the offseason. “There’s talk that Kandra can be ready to start on the offensive line immediately.”

While Kandra likely won’t be starting any time soon, he will be able to rotate in and help right away. The Cincinnati Elder product was the No. 6 offensive guard in the country in the 2020 class according to 247Sports, and he has made an immediate impression on the coaching staff.

Look for Kandra to be used in a multitude of ways, especially relieving starter Caleb Chandler at left guard.
