Adonis Boone – Left tackle

Boone will likely be matched up across from star defensive end’s Quincy Roche and Jaelan Phillips for the majority of the game this weekend. Roche was a problem for the UAB left tackle in game one as the Temple graduate transfer used speed, power, and change of direction to overwhelm his opponent.

Boone and company will likely come in to the game very confident after posting the highest grade of any offensive line in the country in Week two of the college football season.

Boone has an opportunity to prove himself once more after an admirable performance against Western Kentucky EDGE DeAngelo Malone (likely an NFL Draft pick). Boone will be right back at it against future NFL Draft pick Roche. CBS Sports ranked Roche as their 29th overall player for the 2021 NFL Draft recently.

After the first game, I came away impressed with Boone’s play. However, he does have some athletic deficiencies that may make life a little tougher against the uber athletic Roche. This is certainly one to watch Saturday night. A clean pocket for Micale Cunningham could make or break this game.

Another player to watch on the Hurricanes front is UCLA transfer and former number one overall recruit, Phillips.

Despite no sacks on the stat sheet in week one, Phillips looked as explosive as ever in his first game since 2018. Boone’s performance will be key.
