Louisville football just needs a break from Miami.

Primetime has not been good to Louisville football over the last few years, and that trend unfortunately spilled into Saturday’s matchup with no. 17 Miami.

Looks looked encouraging early, but a myriad of defensive mistakes and a “vanilla” game plan led to Louisville digging themselves a hole that they just couldn’t get out of.

The defense looked impressive when it came to shutting down the run against Western Kentucky, but the matchup with Miami was one that was going to paint us a picture of how much improvement had actually taken place during the offseason.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned and now there are more questions than answers following the 47-34 loss that could’ve been much worse.

There were bright spots, which we’ll get into throughout the article, but overall Louisville’s lack of execution led to a disappointing performance during the primetime ABC slot.

With that being said, let’s take a look at my five final thoughts before we officially close the door on Miami and move on to another top 25 matchup with no. 21 Pittsburgh.
