Louisville football looks to get back to winning against no. 21 Pittsburgh.

Things didn’t go so well for Louisville football this past weekend against Miami in their first College Game Day appearance since 2017. With all eyes on the city of Louisville, the Cards looked like the same team that we’ve seen over the last few seasons giving up huge plays on defense while scoring enough points to win the game offensively.

“Explosive plays” is a phrase you’ve read and heard numerous times over the last few days, and for good reason. Louisville’s defensive breakdowns resulted in back-to-back 75-yard one play scoring drives for Miami, and countless other big yard plays that ultimately drowned the Cards chances of winning.

Contrary to the panic level of some fans, I still have a ton of faith in Scott Satterfield, Bryan Brown and the entire Louisville defense and think that if anything, the devastating loss to Miami will likely lead to better play long-term.

We’ll get a chance to see how this particular Louisville team responds to adversity as they head out on the road for the first time during the pandemic and travel to face no. 21 Pittsburgh. They’ll face one of the best defenses in all of college football, which will test just how good Malik Cunningham and the Louisville offense really.

Let’s take a look at the biggest story lines for Louisville football heading into week three.
