One team I’d like to see Louisville basketball play from each conference

Big Ten: Rutgers

I wrote about Rutgers and Louisville facing off earlier this summer in a piece looking at the 2020 edition of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, and it’s a game I still would very much like to see.

This isn’t your grandfathers Rutgers as the Knights are preparing for a season where they’ll likely find themselves in or around the top 25 rankings and picked to be atop the Big Ten.

Seriously.

Rutgers would be a TOUGH outing for Louisville due to their experience at the guard position and defensive abilities. Steve Pikell has turned that program around in a way that no one expected and for Louisville to get a win they’d have to put together an elite performance on both sides of the floor.

Geo Baker and Ron Harper Jr. were damn good in 2019 and in 2020 they’ll have much more help with the addition of top 50 recruit Cliff Omoryui (a former Louisville target) and nearly every one from last year’s roster returning.

Rutgers vs. Louisville may sound as entertaining as reading a Chad Flenderson mystery novel, but it in fact, could be one of the more challenging games that could push the Cards young roster.
