Presley Meyer: Someone not named Tutu, Dez, or Marshon has a reception touchdown

One of the biggest downfalls for Louisville football so far this season has been the lack of success in the passing game.

We saw some big plays made in game one against Western Kentucky. Since then, however, the Cardinals have been a bit stagnant throwing the ball— Especially early on.

Part of those issues stem from inconsistency from Louisville’s offensive line in pass protection, but another huge part is a lack of targets for receivers not named Tutu Atwell, Dez Fitzpatrick, and Marshon Ford.

For the Cardinals, I think that changes in a major way against Georgia Tech.

Louisville has some depth at wide receiver, and I’m specifically looking to speedsters Braden Smith and Jordan Watkins.

The Cardinals need to shake things up to keep defenses honest. Smith has showcased big play ability as a back up slot receiver and a fourth receiver in four wide sets. It’s only a matter of time before the first year JUCO transfer finds the end zone.

Watkins has been the other receiver of intrigue who has seen a solid snap share for a true freshman, but hasn’t been able to get into a groove quite yet.

Someone other than the “main” guys is going to score eventually, and I think it will come against the Yellow Jackets.
