Louisville football has to perform with its back against the wall.

Given the circumstances of the 2020 season, it’s still important to acknowledge the fact that we are even having a Louisville football season at all is truly a blessing.

However, the season is rolling on and- despite Louisville’s best efforts to be on the forefront of testing, allowing for ample practice time- the Cardinals have not lived up to expectations.

Now, Louisville’s back is against the wall in what should be seen as the first true “must-win” game of the Scott Satterfield era.

Louisville is the better team, but the Cardinals will have to show that on the field, or things could get ugly. UofL travels to Notre Dame next week before returning home to face Florida State and Virginia Tech in back to back weeks.

Players to Watch

Javian Hawkins, RB | Louisville

As much as we want this to be the Malik Cunningham game to right the ship and rid the bitter taste from our mouths, I feel like I know Scott Satterfield enough to know that Javian Hawkins should be primed for a big game.

Hawkins struggled to establish a rhythm against Pitt, and Satt loves to run it early and often.

Jeff Sims, QB | Georgia Tech

Tech’s true freshman quarterback is extremely talented and can be dangerous in the run game. However, he has shown to be turnover prone so far. Louisville is dying for a chance two flip the field multiple times in a game, and they won’t have a better chance than against Georgia Tech.

Prediction

It feels like Louisville is primed for a breakout game on offense. The defense is settling in as well. But, until I see consistency on both sides of the ball, it’s difficult to predict a blowout.
