As we embark on Chris Mack’s third season as the head coach for Louisville basketball, there is already a boatload of uncertainty floating around the program. From the NCAA’s notice of allegations to the departure of several extremely vital pieces of the team, Mack and staff have a lot to learn about the immediate future of the program.
In 2019-2020, Louisville started off strong, ascending to no. 1 in the nation, and as the season abruptly came to an unprecedented halt in mid-March due to COVID-19 concerns, many fans and pundits alike thought the Cardinals were poised to break out of their season’s plaguing inconsistencies.
Instead, here we are in October and the chill is in the air. Fans or no fans present, basketball is going to happen. As the Louisville football team approaches mid-season, the sports talk of the town is slowly inching towards college hoops.
Yet aside from a few standout returning players, what do we really know about this roster? What’s the ceiling for the team as a whole?
