At a very very close second on this countdown, “DJ” is the makeup of this roster. Last season, even with a roster stacked with talent and experience, Louisville was simply a different team with him on the floor. Fans even begged Mack to start DJ, a true freshman, over graduate transfer senior Lamarr “Fresh” Kimble.

His time on the floor most certainly allowed him to gain that experience earlier than most point guards in the nation. DJ is an elite ball-handler. He’s not a great shooter, but he distributes the ball and attacks the lane in a deliberate way that completely opens up the remaining options on offense.

In the offseason, he has improved his speed and strength which will be on full display as he’ll be joined in the backcourt by prolific scorer Carlik Jones. I don’t say this lightly: Louisville’s ceiling is contingent on DJ having a big year. We go as high as he takes us.
