F. Freshman. Dre Davis. 10. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 438

The scouting report on Dre Davis is encouraging. He’s a 6’5” forward who can create on his own and can shoot in space. He’s overly aggressive on the offensive glass, satisfactory at handling the rock, and has a nice frame and build.

In essence, he’s a Chris Mack guy. Davis was highly sought-after coming out of Lawrence Central in Indianapolis, Indiana. According to 247 Sports, he was rated as a four-star player, and ranked number 3 in the state of Indiana. He comes in as the no. 20 small forward in the land and sits just outside of the top 100.

We’ve heard Mack stress the importance of bringing in size outside of his front court lineup, and he certainly cashed in on Davis in that regard. The swing man can hold his own in the trenches.

In ACC play the past two seasons, we’ve seen Louisville appear to be second tier when it came to attacking the paint through penetration, handling pressure, and getting clean passing lanes against longer, more athletic teams. Davis fits the bill here.

Though I don’t expect him to grab major minutes, Louisville is definitely a bit inexperienced at the position. I can see Mack tinkering and experimenting with his usage as the season goes on.
