G/F. Grad Senior. player. 438. Pick Analysis. Charles Minlend. 6. Scouting Report

Landing Charles Minlend was precisely the news that Louisville faithful needed to hear after JUCO phenom and homegrown talent Jay Scrubb declared for the NBA draft. Minlend, who is a graduate transfer from San Francisco is a tough, athletic guard that likes to mix things up on the defensive end as well.

Last season with the Dons, he ranked 6th in the West Coast Conference in free throw attempts, meaning he can practically create contact at will. This will go a long way at Louisville, as the bulk of the rim-attacking portion of the roster have departed.

Other than bringing that mental and physical toughness to the table, I think Mack is going to be relying on Minlend’s experience leadership by example – someone to rally the troops and get everyone fired up in the heat of action. Minlend is one of just three seniors on this youthful roster. His presence will be crucial to this year’s progress of Louisville’s younger guards especially.
