Louisville football has got one big challenge ahead.

Louisville football will face their toughest challenge of the season yet when they make the short trip up to South Bend to square off against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

The Cardinals will have to clash with the nation’s number four ranked team in the land in the Irish. Notre Dame comes in at 3-0 and coming off a convincing home win against Florida State most recently. Meanwhile, the Cardinals struggle into the game at 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Notre Dame has future NFL players all over the field on both sides of the football. The Cardinals will have their hands full big-time this weekend.

With all of that said, let’s take a look at some of the players the Cardinals will have to eliminate from the game in order to have a chance to knock off the Fighting Irish.

Kyren Williams, RB (So.)

Williams is a sophomore back that has been dazzling the country through the Irish’s first three games. Williams is averaging a whopping 7.5 yards per carry on just 48 attempts this season and has looked the part as one of the best backs in the nation.

Of course, Notre Dame hosts one of the best lines in the country to run behind. The Irish seemingly always have one of the best offensive lines in college football.

Williams offers an elite combination of speed, agility, and power that everyone covets in a quality running back. He is going to be a significant challenge for the Cardinals to defend against.

The Cardinals have been average at best stopping the run so far this season. They’re going to have to buckle their chin straps tight for this matchup as the Irish look to run first, pass second.

The linebackers will have to do their best job of filling holes and the line will need to anchor and keep gap control throughout the course of the game for success against Williams and the Notre Dame run game.
