Special Teams

It would be wrong not to give a shoutout to the special teams in this game. They forced two turnovers. A nice play by the combination of a Jordan Watkins and Marlon Character tackle forced the first fumble. Then, a couple of kickoffs later, Louisville executed the pooch kick to perfection and Syracuse could not handle it as the Cards recovered.

James Turner, Louisville’s sophomore kicker, continues to impress and made three more field goals in this game including one from 50 yards out. Having a stable kicker is such a nice luxury and takes away from any unnecessary stress this team cannot afford.

Ryan Harwell is punting the ball well. He booted one for 61 yards in this one.

It was a perfect game for Louisville’s special teams. It was almost not-so-perfect when Rodjay Burns dropped a punt in the second half. However, we will turn our heads to that one since they got the ball back.

Overall, this group needed a deserved shoutout for how they have been playing recently. This was  the best game of all in 2020 for this unit.

Overall grade: A+
