Louisville basketball likely will not play a replacement game this Saturday after postponement.

On Wednesday, the ACC announced in a release that Louisville basketballโ€˜s game against Georgia Tech was being postponed due to a Covid positive test and subsequent quarantining within the Yellow Jacketsโ€™ program.

With the postponement, Louisville is next scheduled to play Wednesday, Jan. 13 against Wake Forest.

Now โ€“ you may be wondering โ€“ are they going to schedule a game in its place for this Saturday?

As of right now, that does not feel very likely as Chris Mack did not seem to favor the idea in his postgame press conference last night.

This will give Louisville a bit of a break and an opportunity to break Charles Minlend in to getting up to game speed in practice. Minlend was already close to being able to play against Virginia Tech. One more week should set him up very well to be able to play next week against Wake Forest.

Louisville just came off of an exciting 73-71 victory over Virginia Tech to vault themselves into first place in the ACC. Now, Mack seems ready to get his team to take the next step in their development.

The Cardinals will have to re-schedule the Georgia Tech game to a later date and will get a full week to rest up and prepare for Wake Forest in the meantime. The Demon Deacons have been far from spectacular this season and have only been able to play five total games so far with a 3-2 record.

If you would like to see Louisvilleโ€™s next opponent in action, they take on Duke this Saturday at noon on the ACC Network.

The next time the Cardinals play, they will be just one player short of full strength after a disastrous preseason plagued by injury.
