It is something about Buffalo Bills fans and wanting to donate to opposing quarterbacks around playoff time. Lamar Jackson got the same treatment in the hours after the Bills defeated the Ravens in the divisional round on Saturday night.

Immediately following the game, users on social media platform Reddit began showing their generous monetary support for Louisville-based charity “Blessings in a Backpack” that provides meals for children on the weekends to prevent child hunger in the area.

It did not take Twitter and other platforms long to catch on to the trend by Bills fans before it exploded into a viral event to donate.

It’s not the first time Bills fans have donated to an opposing quarterback

Back in 2018, then Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton completed a touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd to defeat the Baltimore Ravens that would send the Bills to the playoffs for the first time since 2000. For that performance, Bills fans stepped up.

They donated over a quarter of a million dollars to Dalton’s charity after he lifted them to the postseason.

Now, Bills fans are doing the same thing for one of Lamar’s favorite charities.

Bills fans have poured in countless amounts of money over the past day to this charity and the number is only going to go up.

Jackson repaid some of the favor by greeting some fans outside of the airport Saturday night.

How can you not root for Lamar? He just suffered one of the most difficult losses of his young career in a game you knew he wanted to win in the worst way. The game was taken completely out of his hands after injury.

Bills fans did not have any particular reason to give to this charity. They simply just wanted to do so for a great player and even better person. Clearly, fans were feeling empathy regarding the injury of the Ravens star.

Not many players outside of Lamar would earn that kind of praise and empathy from an opposing fanbase. But he is certainly one that has earned it.

In eight months, Jackson will have his shot at redemption to start next season. But, for now, it is certainly fair to point out how much love he has from places outside of just Baltimore and Louisville. He is a universally adored player throughout the NFL.
