Louisville basketball has more schedule shuffling

In a year full of adjustments where every college basketball team has to deal with the curious subject of who their next opponent may be, Louisville basketball has to reason with the same dealings.

Before the changes, Louisville had been scheduled to next play against Boston College on Saturday, Jan. 30. That would have given the Cardinals a week-long break to recover after a hard fought win over Duke.

But things change.

Boston College has Covid-19 issues which resulted in an opponent change just three days before the game is scheduled to be played. All of a sudden, the Cardinals have a four day turnaround instead of a full week.

The game against Boston College will be postponed for a later date.

The opponent – Clemson –  is very much established in Covid issues. The Tigers were 9-1 prior to a Covid pause that forced them to stop play for over a week. Since then, they are 0-3 and have not lost a game by any less than 19 points in that span.

The schedule shuffle creates fun and chaos alike

For fans, this schedule shuffling has to be a pretty fun treat. Instead of having to wait for more basketball until Saturday, you now get the opportunity to watch them three days earlier. It’s a cool wrinkle for those that get to spectate that is exciting and unpredictable.

But for teams looking to plan their games, this situation is an utter cluster for coaches attempting to scout and game plan for certain teams. In this case, Chris Mack has three days to plan to travel to play Clemson in a late-night 9 pm game.

The idea is great in theory but for schools trying to plan road trips and coaches needing to make game plans, this season’s developments have to be extremely difficult.

Overall

Louisville gets their next game action a little earlier coming off a big win over Duke as they face off against a struggling Clemson team. Luckily, it’s decent timing for this kind of schedule change for the Cardinals.

We will see how well Mack can prepare on the fly.
