Dez Fitzpatrick starts first day at Senior Bowl with a bang
Louisville football has one alumni player that is still playing football into late January. That guy is wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick who is looking to posture his way to being an NFL Draft selection this week in Mobile, Alabama.
Fitzpatrick has the unique opportunity to participate in the annual Reese’s Senior Bowl which awards graduating seniors (and in some cases juniors) the opportunity to compete amongst each other in practice and game settings.
This has largely been a draft event for over 60 years to allow seniors to showcase talents and for NFL personnel to get an up close and personal look at them performing.
Many Louisville players have had the opportunity over the course of time; 34 to be exact. Fitzpatrick makes 35.
On Tuesday, Fitzpatrick was given official measurements and weights. The tale of the tape showed that he has the measurables to be an NFL caliber wide receiver.
With these measurements, Fitzpatrick solidifies that he will not be hurt by anything that he does not have anything limiting him off of the field.
On the field, he got to take to the turf with the “National” team that is being coached by the Miami Dolphins assistant coaches.
Watch Fitzpatrick go up and get this ball over the defensive back
Louisville fans got the chance to get to know Fitzpatrick as a player with the knack for the spectacular catch. Even when he is covered, he’s still open. Fans found that out very quickly and the NFL has clearly taken notice as well.
There will be practices every day this week with a game to finish up the event on Saturday at 2:30pm Eastern time.
