OT J.C. Latham – Alabama, 1FR

One of the main offensive positions that Louisville struggled at in 2020 was the offensive tackle position. Louisville had a highly sought after offensive tackle committed in Zen Michalski committed until he flipped to Ohio State late in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

Louisville could use an instant upgrade at the position and Latham would likely walk in and start as a true freshman in 2021. Of course, there is some risk involved here as Latham is not a proven college commodity and could potentially be a bust. But having the chance for the nation’s No. 1 offensive tackle to join the program for at least three full seasons is a difficult proclamation to ignore.

Louisville getting a program-changing left tackle is something fans grew to know and love when Mekhi Becton was manning down the left side of the line. Latham could do similar things at the college level.

The Pick

Will Anderson, OLB, Alabama

Anderson would be enough of a proven commodity to step in from day one and be effective. While a player like Latham was interesting due to the young age of the prospect, the risk was just a bit too much.

Meanwhile, players like Davis and Olave as just one-year rentals just does not seem worth it compared to the value of Anderson being in the program for two or more years.

Anderson checks all of the boxes for the purposes of longevity, position need, fit, and a sure talent.

If you could pick any player in college football, who would you choose?
