Louisville football could be adding 2022 QB commit
Louisville football doesn’t have any commitments in the 2022 class as of yet. But that could be changing within the week.
Three-star quarterback Khalib Johnson out of Pinson, Alabama is set to make his college decision on Feb. 20 and the Cardinals are heavily involved.

The 6’2″ 200-pound Johnson is ranked as the 17th dual threat quarterback in the 2022 class by 247 Sports. He threw for over 2,400 yards in 2020 and rushed for over 500 with 31 total touchdowns.
Now, Scott Satterfield and newly appointed quarterbacks coach Pete Thomas are looking to secure a field general to lead their class.
What would Johnson bring to the table?
He’s a solid athlete, but he wants to win by being a pass-first quarterback. He’s not just consistently looking to run. Johnson shows solid quarterbacking mechanics that present promise to his game. He’s not going to knock your socks off with elite athleticism or arm talent. But there is a lot working for this player.
Polish is the first word that should come to mind with him. He clearly has worked very hard at the position and that should be noted. With a nice looking release of the football at this stage and excellent pocket presence. Johnson would be a good looking commitment for Louisville to kick the class off.
What are Louisville’s chances?
Louisville is in Johnson’s final four. That’s a pretty darn good start. With just six days remaining until his official commitment date, the Cardinals lead on the 247 Sports “crystal ball.”
Johnson has one prediction submitted for Louisville from 247 Sports’ Director of Football Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong. On a confidence rating of 1 through 10, Wiltfong gave the Cardinals a “7” confidence.
Wiltfong is very plugged into the industry and his projection for Louisville is a very good sign.
Johnson will be committing at 3 pm eastern time on Saturday, Feb. 20 which also happens to be his birthday.
If Louisville secures this commitment, they will have an athletic dual threat passer that needs minor tweaks to his game comparative to other quarterback prospects. He may not be the most athletic or have the rocket arm. But he would be a fantastic all around add for the program.
Will the Cardinals secure his commitment?
