With the football season coming to a close, the grind doesn’t stop when it pertains to keeping the proverbial cupboard full of talent ready to take the field the following year. Last year the emphasis was on signing recruits who could fly around on the defensive side of the ball for the 2021 season. As most have witnessed, the run defense has become a force to be reckoned with in ACC play.

One of Louisville’s most recent commits is a hometown product from Male High School, Selah Brown. Brown is a stellar four star defensive lineman who will surely add to a rising Cardinal defense in 2022. He had other offers from the likes of Tennessee, Illinois, and archrival Kentucky just to name a few.

Additionally, the Cards added more defensive firepower by signing another defensive lineman from Tampa, FL, Tawfiq Thomas. Brown and Thomas should both make an impact in a hurry.

Recruiting over the past couple seasons has been different due to the unpredictability of the ongoing pandemic. Most classes have not been as large as years past. That will probably be the case for Louisville this season.

There are eight Cardinal football commits thus far. Offensive tackle Izaiah Reed out of Jackson, TN, and running back Maurice Turner from Douglas, GA, should add to a run game that has had its share of success on the ground this season.

We will see how Louisville finishes the season in 2021. A bowl game appearance wouldn’t be too shabby to help appease any potential suitors who can’t quite make up their minds about where to export their football talents in 2022.
