After an early season overtime defeat just over a week ago to Furman, the Cards have bounced back on a tear! The first win of this new two game win streak came against a scrappy Navy team this past Monday. Louisville doubled down with a hard fought 73-67 victory against the Detroit Mercy Titans last night in the KFC YUM! Center.

This game was much closer than most fans would have liked, but a win is a win in today’s up and down environment of the college basketball landscape. The Cards faced a tough defense throughout the contest; not to mention Detroit Mercy was able to knock down nine 3-pointers from deep.

The Louisville defense was stout when the offense tapered off a bit in the second half for the Cards. As a team they shot 49.1% , so I would say it was more of a managed approach by the Cards to finish out the game.

Balanced scoring by the Cards

Louisville called on it’s transfer star guard once again late. Noah Locke had 16 points, but added a key bucket from beyond the arc to stretch the lead just before time was set to tick under a minute. Big shots in big moments allow other to trust you when the ball is in your hands. Noah Locke is becoming that type of player for the Cards.

The leading scorer was guard Dre Davis from Indianapolis, IN. He led the way with a critical 18 points. Louisville needed every single one.

Free throws and forcing the Titans into mistakes late secured the much needed victory for the now 3-1 Cardinals. Their next game comes with a step up in competition when they play Mississippi State in the Bahamas Championship on Thanksgiving.
