Football in a nutshell, is just a game when discussing actual human mortality. There was sad news confirmed by a number of local media outlets, that coach Scott Satterfield heard of his dad passing away just prior to the kickoff against the Kentucky Wildcats this past Saturday night.

The funeral for Freddie Satterfield, 81, was held today in North Carolina. Coach Satterfield is from North Carolina and is an Appalachian State alum. Reportedly, his dad had been ailing from health complications for most of this season.

Fans and players I am sure can understand how difficult it must have been to go out and coach in game that is probably the most notable in any Louisville football season. The Cards lost to Kentucky 52-21. The mere fact that Satterfield still was able to lock in and focus on the task at hand speaks volumes about his character as a human being.

Let’s keep the entire Satterfield family in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
