Louisville basketball has been in a freefall the past several weeks. The Cardinals have lost 5 of their last 6 games. The latest loss came against Virginia last night. Many have called into question the job security of head coach Chris Mack.
Tonight it was announced that Louisville is in serious talks about parting ways with Chris Mack. Louisville must be dissatisfied and wants a fresh start. Mack has been at the helm since 2018 when he left Xavier and took over for Rick Pitino. This season has just not gone as planned. The Cards sit at just 11-9 and are currently 8th in the ACC standings.
Mack served a six game suspension to start the season, during which Louisville won the Bahamas Championship and appeared to be headed for a promising season. Sadly, that has not been the case. The players passion seems to be on life support and the fan base has become increasingly testy. That does not bode well for any coach when those two ingredients are sprinkled into the fray.
If, or when, Coach Mack is relieved of his duties, who will replace him? Is there a familiar man in New York that Louisville could potentially reach out too for a surprising reunion? This could get interesting. Stay tuned!
