Well, March Madness is in full swing this week with all of the basketball conference tournaments finally upon us. What’s that mean? It means everybody is ALIVE, including the Louisville Cardinals!
Louisville basketball whooped up on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for most of the night last night and defeated them 84-74 to advance to the second round of the ACC tournament. I am positive a number of analysts and fans didn’t expect much from the Cards this postseason after a year full of turmoil. Coach Mike Pegues and this squad had one last thing to say about that.
Jarrod West was the catalyst of the Cards relentless onslaught scoring 20 points and hitting a few crunch time 3’s to seal the victory. The Cards won the rebound battle 38-28 over the Yellow Jackets. At one point in this game Louisville had a belt out spanking up on Georgia Tech by 27 points. Now that’s what you call “beating the doors” off somebody.
The senior Malik Williams also added a much needed double double to help steer Louisville down the street to prosperity. Sydney Curry was a force in the middle pouring in 12 points combined with tough play on the boards.
The Cards next game is tonight against the Virginia Cavaliers. Louisville is fortunate to be fighting for another opportunity to embark on a late March hunt for a bid. They quite possibly need to make the ACC tournament championship game to even catch an underarm sniff from this year’s NCAA tournament committee. Here’s hoping for the best! Go Cards!
