The Louisville-South Florida Pipeline remains alive and well as Safety Shawn Russ Jr. is set to visit Louisville.

The 6-foot-2 product out of Fort Myers, Florida announced on Twitter that he will be on an unofficial visit to the University of Louisville on November 5, 2022.

Louisville has already received a commitment from three-star safety Jayden Davis out of Suwanee, GA. Adding another safety to the mix is always great for any secondary. Cornerbacks and safeties are vital to the importance of the defense. Getting to learn under current secondary studs on the roster, MJ Griffin and Josh Minkins, would be advantageous to the development of his game.

Russ would be the fourth commit in the secondary joining previously mentioned Jayden Davis, cornerback Aaron Williams, and cornerback Rayquan Adkins. The Cardinals are second on his list, according to 247 Sports, so the likelihood of landing him does not seem farfetched by any means.

This season, he has recorded 33 solo tackles and 51 total tackles. That is an average of 8.5 tackles a game. Needless to say, Russ is flying around the field ballhawking whoever is carrying the football on the opposing team. Included in his tackle count is six tackles for loss so he knows how to get in the backfield even if it is not for a sack.

SRJ is being recruited for his defensive abilities, but he can also make an impact on the offensive side of the ball. He has 7 receptions for 139 yards and 3 touchdowns as a receiver for the Dunbar High School Tigers. Russ is an all-around talent and if Louisville can land him, what a weapon to add to an already stacked draft class.
