Kanye West continues to prove himself as a polarizing figure who does not seem to adhere to the world’s standards of normal. He marches to the beat of his own drum and plays by his own rules. Ye rose to the top of the rap world with albums like Late Registration and College Dropout. But he was able to stay at the top through music, fashion, endorsements, and marrying Kim Kardashian.

Things started to fall apart for Kanye when his marriage fell apart and multiple releases of anti-semetic comments were made. This threw a wrench in his endorsement deal with Adidas as well as his future plans for Donda Academy.

The effects of his decisions trickled all the way down to five-star prospect and Louisville target AJ Johnson. Johnson was enrolled at Donda Academy but saw his basketball season come crashing down in a flash. Due to Kanye’s comments, Donda Academy closed its doors and cancelled the basketball season, primarily due to many tournaments withdrawing their name from the competition.

Johnson’s season was left on the ropes and the Louisville fanbase grew anxious as to what this might mean for a future Cardinal. The 6-foot-5 guard was set to be apart of the Kentucky Play By Play Classic in Louisville, Kentucky this year as a member of Donda Academy, but the tournament withdrew their invitation.

This came after AJ Johnson was unable to attend Louisville Live due to a sickness in his family. Louisville fans were maulding because it seemed as if the reality of landing Johnson continued to slip away. But Cardinal Nation can find hope in him donning the Louisville threads once again.

As a part of the cancellation of Donda Academy’s season, Johnson was able to join another team. And the team he joined is none other than Southern California Academy, the school that four-star center Isaiah Miranda is currently attending.

Miranda is another prospect that is high on Coach Kenny Payne’s list, which makes recruiting both of them a little easier for the coaching staff since they will both be on the same court at the same time. This also gives them a chance to build strong chemistry together that could carry over onto the collegiate court, preferably in Louisville Cardinals uniforms.
