It has been announced that another member of Jeff Brohm’s staff at Purdue will be following him to join his staff at the University of Louisville. This time it is co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Mark Hagen. Hagen is set to join the Louisville staff following Purdue’s Citrus Bowl game, along with Brian Brohm who will serve as the Boilermakers’ interim Head Coach for their matchup against the LSU Tigers.

A native of Carmel, Indiana and a graduate of Indiana University, Hagen bleeds Indiana blood. So the fact that Hagen is following Coach Jeff Brohm to Louisville says a lot about his relationship with his head coach. Hagen is now planning to leave Purdue for the second time. His first stint with the Boilermakers was from 2000-2010. During that time, he wore many different hats serving as an assitant head coach, special teams coordinator, linebackers coach, and defensive tackles coach.

Not only does he have an ability to morph into coaching various positions on the sidelines, Hagen was also described by Purdue’s AD Mike Bobinski as a “bulldog of a recruiter” and will appear to be a huge asset for the Cardinals. Rivals.com has also acknowledged him twice as being one of the nation’s top recruiters.

The post-Satterfield administration is slowly coming together for the Cardinals as Hagen will be joining fellow Purdue staff members in The Ville in a list that includes co-defensive coordinator Ron English, wide receivers coach Garrick McGee, running backs coach Chris Barclay, and the aforementioned Brian Brohm.
